Trichopodus Trichopterus Trichopsis

Trichopodus Trichopterus
Trichopsis

An undescribed species often imported and sold as G. sp. ‘burmanicus’. It first appeared in the trade during 2005 and has since been available on a sporadic basis, usually with a relatively high price tag. As well as its unique colour pattern, the chief point of interest is the presence of a proboscis-like rostral process between the eyes.In the Taeng river, a tributary of the Chao Phraya, it was collected in a stream modified by irrigation work alongside Nemacheilus binotatus, Schistura geisleri, S. desmotes, Tuberoschistura baenzigeri, Homaloptera smithi, H. sexmaculata, Lepidocephalichthys hasselti, Acantopsis sp., Acanthopsoides gracilis, Pangio anguillaris, Systomus orphoides, Mystacoleucus marginatus, Barilius koratensis, Rasbora aurotaenia, Glyptothorax laosensis, G. lampris, Trichopodus trichopterus, Trichopsis vittata and Dermogenys pusillus.
