Stuhrling Watches

tuhrling Original Winchester Revolution
Looking at the Stuhrling Facebook page, one would deduce that the young watch manufacturer (the company was only established in 1999) is experiencing great success on the market.  The page displays comments from customers, fan photos, and a generally very positive reaction to Stuhrling products.  However, other reactions around the web are anything but.
The author of the statement refers to Lawrence “Larry” Magen, Stuhrling’s president of North American Operations.  While it is stated in Magen’s company bio that he has a history of “’wholesale to the public’ name brand discount operations”, he is described as a successful businessman with a specialty in creating top-quality, high-end merchandise for buyers of fine jewelry.  Larry is quoted in the site biography:
The watches are largely sold through direct response marketing, better known as home shopping networks. Many Stuhrling owners view Magen’s television program on ShopNBC, a shopping network that offers top brands at more reasonable values.  Viewers can purchase the product online as they view the program on their television, and the system appears to be well received:
“Larry has hit a home run with the new Winchester Revolution,” says another. I just love it. I got the Goldtone. And my gosh, two mainsprings, wow.”

Antoni Patek was born in 1811 (according to some sources 1812) in Piaski Luterskie near Lublin, Poland to Anna née Piasecka and Joachim Patek of Prawdzic coat of arms. [1]

At the age of 10, Patek moved with his parents to Warsaw. Patek's father died on April 7, 1828 in Warsaw.[2]

On March 1, 1828, 16 year old Patek joined the Polish 1st Mounted Rifles Regiment. He fought in the November Uprising during which he was wounded twice. On February 27, 1831 for his heroic attitude Patek was promoted the second lieutenant of the "1st August" brigade, and on October 3 of the same year decorated with Virtuti Militari Golden Cross. After the downfall of the uprising – like many other officers and soldiers of Polish Army – he had to emigrate. In 1832 he was engaged by general Józef Bem in organising an evacuation route for Polish insurgents through Prussia to France. He was charged with a command over a staging point in Bamberg near Munich (one of five staging points on the insurgents' evacuation route). After terminating the evacuation, Patek settled in France, firstly in Cahors, then in Amiens where he worked as a type-setter.[4]

Two years later an unfavourable decree issued by the French government under pressure from the Russian embassy, forced many former insurgents to resettle in Switzerland. Patek tried his hand at many trades, including trading with liquors and wines in Versoix near Geneva. For some time Patek attended painting courses given by the famous Swiss painter and engraver Alexandre Calame. During his studies, Patek also traveled to Paris where he remained for several months. Around this time, he was befriended by the Moreau family of Versoix who he became friends with, and at whose home he would meet his future wife. They probably encouraged him in a new activity – the trade in expensive pocket watches, which were decorated by the goldsmiths, engravers,

is proving to be the calendar year that makers of luxurious watches figure out a new way to market their items and "a la iPhone" appears to be to be the venue of alternative.

Bell & Ross, Breitling, Piaget and Jaeger-LeCoultre have all come out with their individual iPhone apps, every single providing far more advanced features than the final.

Here is a overview of what each application presents

Bell & Ross was the very first luxurious look at manufacturer to release an iPhone app and it is the most basic.

Of program the app tells time, that goes devoid of currently being stated and provide the features of becoming in a position to shake the phone to recharge the automatic winding element of the watch. There are numerous Bell & Ross watches that can be downloaded, with a decision of unique colours and models.

Bell & Ross especially generates high-stop watches for professionals such as air force pilots, deep sea divers, and anti-mine military squads among other people. The inspiration for the useful design of their watches is taken from the 1 key instrument that all these experts count on the most the dashboard and this functional concern normally requires precedence about design and style. New Watches

New Watches

Starting a brand new company of any kind may not seem wise right now, let alone a luxury watch company. Most would say (pun intended or not)…now is just not the time. However, when Babak Ermankhah and longtime friend and partner Eddie Egas – who each have more than 15 years experience in the watch business – simply got bored with the current watch offerings, start a new company is exactly what they did. Expert jeweler Victor Rodriquez joined them and the three formed AZAD Watches in 2008. Each with their own unique talents, specialties and tastes, combined they are able to create the refreshing offerings that set AZAD apart. Their expertise puts AZAD side by side with traditional brands, but their added flavor adds the edge today’s customer craves.
All hailing from various regions, but growing up in New York, each became a success on their own terms by working hard and staying true to their vision. A vision many seem to relate to as well; the still fresh-on-the-scene AZAD already boasts the kind of high-end clientele the older companies are fighting to attract. These men don’t merely understand this target…they ARE this target.

Automatic Watch Winder

Automatic Watch Winder

I'm sure this question has been asked before and for that I apologise for posting it again but I use a linux at work and the web browser is pretty unstable. Every time I tried to use the search option, my browser simply hung and I had to restart it.
Anyway, moving along, I have just a couple of automatic watches in my collection and I really don't have the spare cash on me to invest in a quality winder right now.
The two watches I have are:
1) Vostok Europe Gaz 14 with a VE 2426 movement &
2) Invicta 7176 with a Miyota movement

I was planning on wearing my watches in rotation and so the above mentioned watches will probably get 1 day a week on my wrist (I have to show some love to my other quartz watches as well :D )
I was wondering whether it would be OK for me to manually wind those watches, on the days I'm not wearing them.
I contacted Vostok Europe and they said that its absolutely fine if I do that, but read somewhere online that doing this can potentially damage the watch over time.
As for the Invicta, its got a screw in crown, so I think I'll avoid winding that and instead just give it a good gentle shake for a few minutes, every night since the rotor is rotates pretty freely (unlike that of the VE)
What do you guys think? I could really do with some inputs from you guys.
Thanks
