After some highlights, there are annual lists of publications appearing in 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, and 2001 which will assist in locating current and recent research on Rift Lake fishes and other organisms (additions to these lists are flagged as New for at least 1 month). Many studies of Lakes Victoria and Tanganyika (and even some on riverine fishes) are now included, in view of their relevance to understanding the Lake Malawi fauna and its history. Hundreds of "gray literature" citations are included, as are limnology, conservation, and aquaculture publications on Lake Malawi or its species. Also listed are earth science publications (paleolimnology, sedimentology, stratigraphy, biogeochemistry) relating to the geologic context of Lake Malawi. The vast aquarist literature is ignored, except for a few articles of scientific importance.
