There are many types of natural fibers have been studying by few institutions such as universities and research institutes. However most of them are private and confidential. Most of them are trade secrets on formulation and materials. What we present here are the common natural fibers that would be useful in the future. Natural fibers composites have been used and produced by few material companies. Some auto manufacturers even already use it such as Lotus and Mercedes-Benz.
Natural fibers are obtained from natural plants. There are three categories of natural fibers which could be used for producing bio composite or natural fiber composites:

1. Fruit fibers – fibers are extracted from the fruits of the plant. Normally they are very light and hairy.
2. Bast fibers – fibers are originated from the stems of the plant. Usually they are very long and across the entire length of the stem.
3. Leaf fibersCotton is one of the most important natural fibers for textile industry. Comparing with other natural fibers, cotton is a weak fiber. Cotton can absorb moist up to 20% of its dry weight, without feeling wet. It is also a good heat conductor. In textile industry cotton is used to manufacture clothes, blankets, mobs, carpets and medical cotton wool.
